People should mostly concentrate on posting things that make for interesting discussions. Controversy may be rancorous, but it isn't necessarily very interesting at all. A lot of stuff that's "controversial" is only so among numbskulls or people incapable to coming to reasoned conclusions on their own. It's often dull and worth virtually an automatic pass. I'd rather see something interesting than merely controversial any day.
Letting the forum take its own shape, acquire its own fitting speed, and reinforce those qualities naturally seems cool to me. I don't care how many topics there are or how fast they come, as long as they are interesting and civil. No sense trying to "force" what makes this forum good. That might just trivialize it or make it seem mechanical.
