Default Level of competition at the WSOP???

If this isn't the right place to ask this then please move this to the correct place...

My friend and I were discussing the WSOP and he says that the competition must be "crazy hard" in general for NLHE. We were not talking about any buy in in particular but I felt that he is over estimating the competition.

Neither of us have played at an event at the WSOP and we don't feel we are good enough anyways but I was just wondering if somebody could relate the competition level to say an online game.

For instance people say the 1/2 live cash games are very soft and if you can beat 25NL/50NL online then you can beat 1/2 live.

Something like this in reference to WSOP events would be great. Does the ME have harder competition then say a 1.5K or 2K event in NLHE?

Thanks for any responses.
