Default Re: Convincing the wife ....

I have a feeling she's more concerned with the amount of time you spent and will be spending sitting in front of the computer than she really is about you "gambling". And by definition, when you risk nothing you aren't gambling. You have nothing to loose and alot to gain. Would she against you entering some dumb free contest to win $35k if it was a local radio station putting it on? Surely not.

If she plays the lottery and a card game for quarters, she's gambling. Playing a freeroll poker tourney is not. If she won't admit to these hypocrisies then you are fighting a battle you'll never win. Although with women you are usually fighting a battle you'll never win.

I'd play the tournament and tell her you'll spend some quality time with her once it's over. Then do it. Also do not seem very "results oriented" about the tourney. That way if you bust out, you can say you still had a good time challenging yourself etc.

Let us know how you do. Good luck.
