unusual affiliate request

I opened an account with an affiliate and have played for almost three weeks. Today he asked me to download a file with the same name as the setup executable for that site from his site (which while amateurish seems legit) and run it.

He says that it will send data about rake to him. What am I exposing myself to by doing this? Is there any way I can check to make sure this is legit before doing so? It isn't the same size as the setup executable from the site and has a different icon - should this concern me? I scanned it for viruses with F-Secure and none were found.

Fwiw I'm somewhat adept with computers, so you can give a technical explanation if need be.
