I think I disagree with this. With 7k chips, chances are if you make it past the bubble you will bust out before the final table fairly often, so survival doesn't really gain you much (depending on actual payout structure). If you play this hand, there isn't a huge chance you bust out of the money since you have to lose to both the raiser and the short stack. I think I would play a pretty wide range depending on what the raisers opening range is. The fact that you say MP was "out of his mind" makes me think that you should be playing as loose as AT or AJ, maybe even KQ as well as 77+. cEV and $EV probably do diverge here, but I doubt it's by a large amount.
