It is looking more and more like the UIGEA has done more than screw the American poker world. It seems to be spreading and mutating into various forms all around the world:
--Canada has stated that it may follow the USA with similar legislation of internet gambling. --China, which has potential for massive online poker growth, has stated that they will severly regulate online gambling. They have gone so far as to say they consider it a scourge. --France looks like it is following us with severe legislative restrictions to such a degree that today Party Poker announced it is pulling out of France. --According to gambling 911.com the climate in Scandinavia and the Netherlands is not good right now for online poker. So it is starting to look like the UIGEA--or perhaps I should say the UIGEA mentality-- is "morphing itself" and spreading all over the world in a variety of different forms. |
