Default What is abc poker - NL

Often I see comments/advises to just play ABC poker. Even as high (for me) as NL200.
I know it means simple, by the book poker. But I cant see it working. For example: You raise and make a cont bet against single caller (you dont connect). He calls, turn is blank and you have to check/fold. Ofc villains connect to board too but that is too exploitable. You make TPTK and are raised on turn - easy fold, if villain knows you're gonna fold TPTK he may raise you with any2.
I'm concerned that playing ABC poker I'll be an open book for every1 to read. So how can it work?
