Music sounds awful on my computer

For some reason, when I play music on my computer (lately, hasn't always done this) it sounds kinda distorted, almost like the speakers are blown. Only they aren't, and it sounds the same on my headphones too.

Could this be a problem with my sound card? Or something else I haven't thought of?
