New Years Resolutions

Since tonight is New Year's Eve I've been thinking a lot about my goals in poker for the upcoming year. So I'm going to post what I hope to accomplish in 2007, and hopefully revisit this post throughout the year to make sure I'm on track.

1) Focus, Focus, Focus: Stop going into auto pilot mode when playing and instead, focus on every hand, every decision and realize I still have so much to learn.

2) Diversify: Once I have enough comfort within my BR, take at least 5-10 hours a week to diversify my skill set (more short handed play, and begin learning NL and eventually Omaha). By the end of the year I want to be comfortable playing in many more settings than I am now.

3) Read: set aside an hour every evening during the week to read or reread one of my poker books.

4) Post: I have always told myself I'd post more but motivation has been short lived. Every session I make mistakes and encounter situations that make me unsure of the proper response. I need to try harder to identify every time this happens, and if I can't figure out what I did wrong on my own, post here and check my ego at the door.

5) Health & Balance: Getting enough sleep, eating well and exercising my mind and body have really helped me with my poker game lately. I want to continue having healthier habits in my daily life.


These are some of my goals for the upcoming year and hopefully this thread can continue to motivate me as 2007 progresses, what are some of yours?
