I highly doubt ESPN wouldn't return money for ads they didn't run.
When Bodog pays them money for advertising, ESPN records a liability for unearned revenue. When they earn that revenue (i.e. show the ads that were purchased), they transfer that portion of unearned revenue into revenue and at that point record the revenue. If they do not show the ads, then they owe Bodog the money, just as if they had purchased a product on credit.
I really doubt a major company like ESPN would risk the negative publicity that would come from screwing over Bodog like that.
