Dealers: Have you ever dealt casino parties?

I have. Wow, it sucked.

I was shocked at how incredibly rude to people are, and how they get so freaken stressed when they are not playing for real money. Amazing. They ask you to deal faster, perfectly, show them how to play the game, and when you say a word they tell you to shut up. Amazing, the dealers at the casino don't get this kind of abuse.

And of coarse, they don't tip.

I did this last year during the holidays, and considered doing it this year. While making $200 for 6 hours of work is fine, it really isn't worth it.

There was this one party, in fact the first I ever dealt, that was just terrible. I was told by the other dealers that this was the worst they ever seen. I was dealing, and another table wanted no limit. I was showing some players how to play the game, and dropping a few thoughts on strategy since they asked for it. Since this was my first time, with no official training, the "floor" was observing. Well the other table asked for a new dealer and the floor pulled me over to deal them. I was shocked by these people's behavior. This would never be tolerated in the casino.

So, I started practicing things that would never be tolerated in the casino. I started calling out raises and immediately counted down all the bets without being asked.

Since I had my own plastic cards, I felt like it would be fun to set up a few hands. The royals I used where very nice to handle and did not slip, permitting to do perfect shuffles and silently slide seconds. One player complained that he never got one ace the entire night. Gee, I wonder why?
