I can't believe how many people think Mario Kart 64 is a phenomenal game. It is absolutely nowhere remotely close to being one of the top ten games ever. When it first came out it was a big disappointment...Super Mario Kart was much better. Over time, MK64's multi-player mode has become classic, but IMO it's mostly just because of the battle mode. The actual racing blows because of mediocre track design and cheating AI.

Single player is average at best.
