Default Better than getting drunk on Beast?!

So how can losing $200 be better than getting belligerent on Beast on a Friday night? What insane college freshman would say something like that? Beats me.

(Please don't expect eloquent prose)

Friday DCWildcat (Phil) and I decided to make the 4.5 hour journey to Myrtle Beach, SC for some casino action. It was my first time playing cards in a casino, although I did play in clubs around Atlanta whilst still living there.

It was an okay experience. It went a lot slower than I'm used to (4-tabling 6max) and was thus a little boring. Especially since I got put on perhaps the worst low limit casino poker table in the world.

This game featured a 3/5 blind structure. Unfortunately, I didn't get to take advantage of it very much, because in the 3 hours that I played, I played 4 hands. Yep, you heard that right. Played AA, KTs, T6s (BB), and A9o (SB).

Here's the KTs hand.

Sun Cruz Casino, Little River SC 5/10 (10 players)

I'm in MP with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I'm in MP. Two players limp and I limp behind. The table PFR hovered right around 0. Unfortunately, so did the VPIP, but I decided to gamble. The two limpers were two older gentlemen, likely to be playing on Social Security checks. They loved to limp pre-flop (but not very often). Furthermore, they were quite passive post-flop and called down with bottom pair. These live players are interesting beasts. Many play correctly pre-flop (or at least moreso than any other fish that I have previously encountered), but then they apparently became suspicious of bluffers and would therefore call down.

Folded around to the SB who raises. SB is a younger guy (25ish) and seems to know what he's doing. He just sat down, but has an air of quiet-confidence. You know what I mean. He probably doesn't play as well as most 2+2ers, but he can beat the live games at a healthy rate because of the terrible, passive play. Limpers both call and I call.

Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (9 SB)

SB bets out, first limper folds, second calls (as expected) and I raise. SB gets a weird look on his face. Like he is trying to figure out with what hand I would raise there. He gets confused and calls. So does the limper.

Turn: 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (7.5 BB)

Check, check, I bet, call call.

River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (10.5 BB)

Check, check, I think for a second and bet.

Ya? If I was playing 3/6 short or 5/10 short I bet that river every time. But these dudes have me confused.

I'm in BB and get dealt T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

3 limpers, including SB, and I check.

Flop comes A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

SB checks, I bet, 2 callers, raise, SB folds, I call, limpers call.

Turn 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I bet. 1 caller, raise, I 3-bet, caller calls, raiser calls.

River is 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I check/fold.

A9 hand.

Basically what happens is there are a couple limpers, including semi-pro on button. Flop comes T92, I check-raise the semi-pro, it gets HU and I bet the turn and he folds.

AA hand

I raise UTG, get BB to call, he check/calls whole way and MHIG.

Basically, it was an awful table. One time it folded all the way around to the BB three times in a row. What the hell?! I ask the floor for a table change but couldn't get one.

We get off the boat around 1:15 and Phil is feeling sick so I drive back, from about 1:30 am until 6:30 or so. Ran out of gas about 30 minutes from Charlotte, but luckily there was a gas station right there. I don't know what we would have done, two college kids hiking on I-77 with like 2 grand between them. Not pretty.

Anyway, I had a good time and it was a good change of pace from online grind. One bad thing was that they wouldn't let me have my MP3 player on board and I definetly got sick of hearing old people mutter and complain.

I can't wait to go back.
