bike got nicked @ train station, whats my play? (beat)

so i went to work today at 5 and locked my push bike up at the station. it was with one of those long cable locks that you can weave around your bike. i wrapped it around the pole and through the inside of the frame and thought that was pretty steal-proof. i checked to see if i had locked it correctly and went to buy a ticket. however i came back to discover it had gone

when i got back the grey cable was still around the pole, and my mind is at a loss to how they managed to either: somehow defy the laws of physics and pass the cable through the main bar, or manage to pick/break open the lock, steal the bike, and then decide to lock the cable back up and leave it there. i probably screwed up with locking it but am prepared to admit it if someone helps me out with how, cos i'm at a loss atm.
