Totalled my car, need a new one. HELP!

Ok I got into an accident, and my car is totalled. I drove a 95 lumina, and I expect to get back anywhere from $1500-$3000 back from the insurance company. Here's my dilemma, I have no idea what to buy. This is my second "used" car. I say "used" because this and the car before that were basically just cars bought out of need. I have a decent amount of time to make this decision (I'm driving my brother's extra car), so I am going to try to make the best one. I make almost $1200/month (I'm in college) and my bills are usually under $500. I have about $6000 saved for a downpayment, the problem is I don't know what to get.
