At what level should you start using tricky/variation plays?

I'm referring to live, as opposed to on-line play. I'm thinking probably at the 10-20 or 15-30 games as anything less than that it seems to me the majority of players are generally "unaware" and you should just play standard ABC poker. I'm curious to know what others view on this is...
