tips for buying a suit

i'll be interviewing for a job soon, and i'm shopping for a suit today. i know little about clothes and even less about businesswear, so i hope some of you can give me some tips on what to look for. i've already been told to look for light weight wool.

i'll be interviewing for academic jobs, so the suit should be conservative. i'll probably get something in light grey with no pinstripes and with two buttons. besides wearing the suit for interviews, i'll also have to wear it during 90 minute seminars that i'll be giving.
