just got off the phone with mom. told me that she woke up this morning and Felix was dead.
The facts as I could get them: -Felix was an extremely intelligent and resourceful cat. -Felix was old and sick. liver was starting to fail so he had probably had a month or two left -Felix was thrown outside at 230 AM last night. -Felix never has been seen near mom's pool, not even to drink from it. -Air conditioner was on, so mom said she probably wouldn't hear much outside even though her room overlooks the pool. -Felix was found dead in pool at 730 AM. Was this a murder? Suicide? Accident? two most likely theories for me: 1) felix was drinking from pool, and being physically weak from sickness lost his balance, fell in and drowned. however, this theory is inconsistant with known fatcs about felix. 2) felix was much sicker than vet suggested, knew his time was very close, and jumped in pool to kill himself. this seems plausible, but why didnt felix just run away to die like most cats? has anybody ever heard of a violent cat suicide like this? ...off to casino for a few hours- will return to answer any questions, fill in deatils, etc. |
