The Steve Buscemi Badge of Quality.
I was rewatching Millers crossing the other day, and it occured to me that I have liked every Steve Buscemi movie I've ever seen- He's my badge of quality.
He's been in the best Coen Brothers film, the best Tarantino film and the best asteroid about to destroy the earth film. Dammit, I didn't even mind Mr Deeds and that's got Adam Sandler in it. (OK, it was sucky, but Buscemi and Turturro together made it more than bearable). So, I've decided to watch more Buscemi. Here's his IMDB page Buscemi-land I've seen- Fargo, Barton Fink, Miller's Crossing, Lebowski, Wedding Singer, Deeds, Armegeddon, Oblivion, Hudsucker Proxy, Res Dogs, Airheads, Pulp Fiction. On my Buscemi to come shortlist: Grey Zone, Coffee and Cigarettes, Con Air, Big Fish. Has Buscemi ever made a straight up bad film? I hope not. I'd like to be able to have one actor in the world where I can walk into the film with the pleasure that comes from knowing for certain it won't be a clunker. Maybe TLDR can give me other suggestions for "never made a clunker" actors.... |
