Default buying the button or posting behind

what's considered better strategy when you miss your blinds, buying the button (if the room allows it) or posting the 1.5SB behind the button?

buying the button: you get more hands in, and you get the button on the next hand, but you have bad position when posting.

posting behind the button: you get less hands in, you lose the button, but you have good position when posting your blinds.

if there has already been discussion about this i'd love a link.

edit: to clarify, "buying the button" means that you post both the small and big blinds directly in front of the button, with no other players posting any blinds, and on the next hand you get the button. no casino i've been to on the east coast allows this, but some private rooms do.

there is a paragraph in bob ciaffone's "middle limit holdem" about whether or not to post behind the button or take both blinds, but no discussion on buying the button.
