Extra Chips
In his blog, Richard Brodie (Quite Lion) points out that if the reported chip counts are correct (somewhat problematical) there is somewhere near a half a million in extra chips in the tournament. He also calculates the maximum that would be added in the various "color ups" to show it would not explain the problem.
The reported chip counts this morning total 90,140,000 which is almost 2,400,000 more than you would expect. Could players have slipped that many extra chips into play? I guess if it were widespread it would only be about $300 per player. But if it was limited to a few, it could make a significant difference. I have very little live tournament experience so really do not know if this is even possible.
