How much do you have to play to get VIP at Party

I am thinking about taking advantage of more of Party Pokers promotions. I had done some reading on the VIP program, but do not see how much you people played, before asking to be in the program. Could some people who are in it give there experience. So I know how long to play before requesting to get in it? Thank you, Briton
