While true the WBC does tend to show my point. Collections of superstars (USA, Dominican) were inferior to teams (Japan, Cuba). Granted if those superstar collections had a proper spring training and a full season together things may have turned out differently. Better talent is a good thing in baseball. I just think that statistically oriented baseball fans miss a lot of the big picture that is emphasised by proper team and situational play.

It sounds like you might be completely overlooking the effects of variance in a short series or a small number of games.
