Manny's last 3 years WARP1, which attempts to account for defense:
2004: 6.6
2005: 6.8
and 2006 so far: 2.0
Bay's last 3 years:
2004: 4.9
2005: 9.8
2006: 2.3

Hafner:
2004: 6.7
2005: 7.2
2006: 2.8

Ortiz:
2004: 6.4
2005: 8.0
2006: 1.8

There is not a huge difference between any of these players. To say that Hafner is a defensible choice (which is clearly true) but say that Manny does not belong on the team makes no sense whatsoever.
