Help me play opened-ended straight draws in position on the flop!
Villain's stats are 20/11/1.41. We have no history between us.
Full Tilt Poker, $2/$4 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter UTG: $396 Hero (MP): $405.20 CO: $200.66 BTN: $595.50 SB: $390.20 BB: $408.10 CO posts $4 Pre-Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (MP) UTG raises to $16, Hero calls $16, 3 folds, BB calls $12 Flop: ($54) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 Players) BB checks, UTG bets $40, Hero calls or raises? I'm torn between calling and raising. If I call and miss on the turn, he could fire another full barrel and force me to fold. If I raise, he could reraise all in, giving me crappy odds to call. What to do? |

Re: Help me play opened-ended straight draws in position on the flop!
call usually, you are allowed to shove over a turn bet sometimes (though probably not against this guy).

Re: Help me play opened-ended straight draws in position on the flop!
I would either call or raise a committing amount ($160 or so). Against most players I would raise, but against this guy I favour calling since his pfr is relatively low so he's pretty likely to have a real hand raising UTG.

Re: Help me play opened-ended straight draws in position on the flop!
Cool.
Id be tempted to min raise the villan on the flop. This does quite a few things. It gains pot control for cheap and may also make your hand apear very strong as players sometimes minraise monsters. If he calls we can check behind on turn and gain a free river. Cheap draw yes and if he raise's flop it;s going to seem like a bad play but i feel the plays ok as sometimes your going to take this down on the flop in similair spots |

I think most of what I said applies to heads up pots or vs. a non UTG raiser. |
