Re: Detecting a form of cheating
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Sure sounds like cheating. Hard to prove though. Why don't you conspire with one other player there you trust to get there early each time and grab the one and ten seats. If the dealer or cheating player then start to do some sort of antics to get the player back to position, you'll know the truth of it. [/ QUOTE ] I actually doubt that the dealers are in on this. More likely if this is what is happening its just sloppy dealing being taken advantage of. Of course it alsomay be that the OP is off base about what is happening and its just cooincidence that he has noticed him winning in these seats. [/ QUOTE ] Since there will be a burn you need to see the second card, this sounds very difficult if not impossible unless the dealer is in on it. |

[/ QUOTE ] A sloppy dealer could easily expose multiple cards from the top when rolling the deck. now we don't know how many different dealers this involves, but I'm more inclined to think of multiple bad dealers then multiple crooked dealers. |

Re: Detecting a form of cheating
What stakes are we playing? To set up a scam involving multiple parties, especially one including "inside" workers, takes planning, and trust amongst thieves. If the take is merely a couple of bucks then it is unlikely at a small stakes private club. I'm more inclined to believe either the guy is picking up on a dealer idiosyncrasy or just plain "luck"
I like to sit in the 1/10 seats. I just feel more comfortable in them next to the Dealer and I used to be a tad superstitious about sitting in those seats (now I just suck in all seating positions). If a player is more comfortable sometimes he plays better poker. |

Re: Detecting a form of cheating
In germany a cheater got detected, who played for years only in the 1/10 seat and crushed the game.
In this casino, cards were counted only on defined times. He just kept one card and throws the other one in the muck to the rest of the cards. He did it twice and tada, he plays Holdem with 4 cards = huge advantage Noone noticed it for years, though they watched him carefully. Once, a dealer counted the cards too early, he desperately threw his remaining cards in the muck, and was caught. |
