New (?) Game: HOLDMAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Came up with this last night with my buddies and the help of lots of beer and spliffs.
Holdmaha: Starts off as hold em, ends as omaha. Everyone is dealt 2 cards. Normal preflop betting. See the flop, bet as usual. Before turn card is shown, everyone is dealt a 3rd card. Turn betting as usual. Before river card is shown, everyone is dealt a 4th card. River betting as usual. Showdown w/ omaha rules, 2 in your hand 3 in community. Has to be no limit of course cuz limit is gay. This game was a LOT of fun. Anyone ever play this game? Any suggestions for variations? We considered having everyone's 4th card dealt face up... I have played Nuclear, which is the reverse of what you describe where you discard on the flop and the turn, but you can play 0, 1 or 2.

Re: New (?) Game: HOLDMAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We played this at a home game last night and it was a lot fun. The only thing we did different was deal the last card up instead of the turn. There was a ton of action and the pots built up pretty quick, we've decided to add it to our rotation.

Re: New (?) Game: HOLDMAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We've played this in our game for years, except we call it "Holdema" (it rolls of the tongue more easily than "Holdmaha" imo).
There are probably quite a few other home games throughout the world that have invented this exact game! The best part is having no pair/draw on the turn, and making the nuts on the river anyway. |

See this thread from 2005, which proves definitively that our home game invented this form of poker:
