Re: Penny tables, Top set on one-suit board
Flag,
I he only has 3 outs(he has more here so bad example) we want him to call not fold. |

Re: Penny tables, Top set on one-suit board
I understand that. The concept I'm getting at here is hand protection. Let's say that villain actually has only three outs. If you bet the turn, we're happy if villain calls since he will have made a mathematical error. Or villain can fold, which we're also happy with since he's forfeiting what equity he had in the pot. Either way, we're pleased.
If you're trying to say that we should shed a tear over villain folding the turn with AK, you're wrong. That's still a good outcome for us, just not as good an outcome as it is when villain makes a bad call. |

Re: Penny tables, Top set on one-suit board
Thanks all for the comments.
Villain's bet-call on the flop made me think he may have a single high heart, which is why I checked the turn. Followup question: if I bet the turn and am raised, I pretty much have to call. If you miss the full house and villain bets the river, do you lay it down? |

Re: Penny tables, Top set on one-suit board
I'd probably bet the turn. Even if he has a heart, we have ten clean outs to beat it.

[/ QUOTE ] No. He only needs to be raising with something other than a flush about 9% of the time to make calling profitable. I think that folding for a single bet is a bigger mistake than paying off his flush, in this case. |

:grunch:
I think it's ok. If you get raised on the turn, you're almost certainly behind, but you have to see the river which your chance to boat up. Also, any worse hand will probably fold to the turn bet. Good river bet. |

turn bettors,
if c/r, are you cool enough to fold the river ui? if not, are you sure you want to bet the turn? |

Sorry, thought we were done with this hand. "Provide the results when the hand's discussion has reached its conclusion to provide closure for those who helped you out."
Looks like I missed the 30 minute edit cutoff. Apologies. |
