Re: College Football: Rank the 1- loss teams (anonymous)
Unfortunately I know the teams too well for this to leave them anonymous in my mind. Gee, who lost 43-37 in 3ot?
I do think looking at it this way makes it pretty clear that "F" is ahead of "D". In the ranking thread I put D second and F third. If I had a vote in the AP poll I would do the same. If I had a vote in the Harris poll, though, I would swap them because it affects the BCS. I don't actually think D is more deserving, I just would feel too treasonous not giving them the homer benefit of the doubt when it doesn't affect the actual BCS standings anyway |

Re: College Football: Rank the 1- loss teams (anonymous)
[ QUOTE ]
I think people have C really low, but they lost to a decent team by one score and had two good (2 score+) wins over slightly worse teams. Has to be better than team G imo. [/ QUOTE ] It's kind of like arguing bubble teams in basketball in the sense that nobody will ever change their mind. The extent to which quality of wins, losses, & overall schedule is never clearly defined & thus the opinions are based on highly inconsistent, arbitrary criteria. I personally feel like team C should get a quality road win to make up for their bad loss & give them the edge over team G, but I can't really get upset with anyone who doesn't agree. |

Re: College Football: Rank the 1- loss teams (anonymous)
As you can tell by my edit I had C ahead of G and switched. It's fairly close. C's loss is significantly worse but C has an extra big win, a blowout at a low-end of the top 25 type team. One can argue those either way but I think the worse loss outweighs the extra win.
E's resume is basically a slightly better version of G's with a similar loss and a win that's a fair bit better. I think E should certainly be above C based on the above, but could see someone wanting C either in between them or even above E. |

c and b are very close tho and proly interchangeable. f clearly has the best resume. a is obv the worst. putting e or g above c is laughable. |

Re: College Football: Rank the 1- loss teams (anonymous)
ok after looking some more i think e could be close to c. im still sticking by c bc they have 2 wins while e only has one against similiar opponents.
but really, g has done nothing and is not close to c. c beat 2 teams better than the only quality team g beat. you are rewarding g for simply playing a great team. also i only know the identity of c. |
