Re: High Stakes Poker thread (11/5 - 500k buyin - Spoilers expected)
So Gold made a bad speech that gave his hand away, and he was mistaken about the true strength of his hand, thus concealing it again.
Two mistakes that combined saved him a lot of money. Poker is weird sometimes. |

[ QUOTE ] Man Jman's a nit. I don't think he played a single hand tonight. [/ QUOTE ] But if you listen really, really carefully you can hear Jman's voice in the background whispering "fold, fold" in the Brunson Vs Gold flush hand. [/ QUOTE ] ahahaha at both posts! Re: High Stakes Poker thread (11/5 - 500k buyin - Spoilers expected)
[ QUOTE ]
The stack sizes made it an awkward hand to be in at the time. With a smaller stack he can shove, and with a larger stack he can call and face a river decision. With 500k and Jamie's raise to 125, Doyle is finding it hard to commit himself with that hand. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. And that's why I don't like Doyle's bet size on the turn. Gold likes to bluff and play baby suited cards. That turn card is one where a check-raise from Gold is pretty likely, as either a bluff on the scare card or from a flush. Doyle bet $25k into $20k (I think). When he gets check-raised like he did it puts him in an awkward spot considering the stacks as Private_Joker said. Had Doyle bet something like $14k into $20k, then Jaime can check-raise to what...$60k or $70k? Maybe even something like $45k. I think Doyle can call that and probably call the river, or at least play the river well as he is in position. With the size of Doyle's bet I think folding is fine. |

everything about this post is insane. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah but you think 1/2 online players can beat the high stakes guys. So, you know, your opinion is pretty irrelevant to me. |

[ QUOTE ]
1. I don't know what I would have done if Antonio raised me on the flop or turn on the hand where I flopped bottom two. Frankly, I wasn't sharp because I was tired after playing late the night before and losing several hundred thousand. I thought the King and Queen on the turn and river were perfect cards for me, since I thought Antonio had limped with an Ace suited. 2. After the flush hand with Doyle and Jamie, Dolye leaned over and asked me what I thought Jamie had. I told him I thought Jamie had an Ace high straight. When Doyle told me he could beat that, I told him I wouldn't have folded. Doyle said, "I know by the way Jamie was acting that he thought he had the nuts, but I hope he didn't misjudge his own strength." Later when Jamie tells Doyle what he had, Doyle gets steamed up and costs me money with a play he wouldn't ordinarily make. 3. The shirt wasn't mine. They wouldn't let me wear the sweater I brought because it had an embroidered PokerStars logo. I had to get another shirt or wear black tape like Patrik did. The shirt I wore was the only one they had in the gift shop. Barry [/ QUOTE ] Barry if you hit an 8 on the river how much do you think you lose? |

Re: High Stakes Poker thread (11/5 - 500k buyin - Spoilers expected)
Barry did you think Antonio would call with a suited ace on the river? Seems pretty unlikely given how seriously he seemed to consider folding the AA.

Re: High Stakes Poker thread (11/5 - 500k buyin - Spoilers expected)
Suppose Antonio had Guy’s hand when Guy flopped the three Jacks, Sammy had the flush draw and David had fives. I don’t think he would have bet the flop and as tight as he’s playing, he still would have lost all his chips. My guess is probably half the players would try to slow play top set in that situation and gone broke. Guy bet cause he didn’t want to get drawn out on, other players might have gambled more and good bye chips.
