.50/1 weird flop donkbet
6max, previous hand with villain I called his raise in the SB with A578 and craised him on a 776 flop, he called, then folded to my push on a blank turn.
Next hand I am on button, effective stacks 120. One limp, he raises pot, I 3bet pot with KKQ9ds, limper calls, he calls. Flop J 5 3 rainbow: limper checks, villain bets 27 into 49 dollar pot, my action? |

Did you pick up one BDFD or two? I think it makes a pretty significant difference here.

Re: .50/1 weird flop donkbet
I would just push,
seems like he is asking a question, so you have fold equity. Dont think he has AA or he would push preflop, he could have a set but I guess AJ or QJ most probable. |

Re: .50/1 weird flop donkbet
The relevant information from the previous hand is that he was capable of folding in a big pot, so he is probably folding any worse hand to a push and calling anything better. The value in the push then becomes protecting our hand from him outdrawing us to two pair on the the turn.

yes, not expecting to be ahead against his range if he calls,
Just think pot odds and fold equity make it about =EV and its good for table image and more fun. |

Re: .50/1 weird flop donkbet
Yeah I think I push here. He can call with worse hands or a draw, so it's not like you only stand to get called when beat. The pot is big enough to merit taking down early in any case.

Re: .50/1 weird flop donkbet
Honestly, it's too read-dependent of a spot to really give any good advice. I'm not worried about whether he can lay down a hand, I'm more interested in what he usually has when he weak-leads into a raiser. If he's trying to induce a raise, if he's trying to get a fold, or if he's just lost.
With two BDFD's, I'd push unless I specifically had seen villain bet this size with strong hands and knew he was tight. This is closer, and I think that I'd push against ~60% of villains. Really tough to say specifically without more information. |

Re: .50/1 weird flop donkbet
I'm not criticizing the play, but your statement, "The value in the push then becomes protecting our hand from him outdrawing us to two pair on the the turn." is incorrect because he can have draws which are going to call, and he could also bluff you out.
