Re: 50nl, Set....He\'s not calling a shove.....or is he?
Betsizing bla bla bla is all good. What your missing here is the texture. Playing poker based on you holding is just a terrible terrible practice. The board is as dry as they get. He can't call with much. There is nothing to protect against. Pot is HU. Why would you ever pot here? Be consitent. Most of the time your gonna have [censored] all here yourself. I really don't give a [censored] about extracting in a short run when its clearly going to jeopardize my gameplan in a long run.

Re: 50nl, Set....He\'s not calling a shove.....or is he?
I understand board texture and stuff like that and I certainly wouldn't cbet pot here (since I wouldn't do it with air either because I don't have to), but on flops like these you're gonna get called by top pair and 88+ regardless of your bet size, maybe a 7 might fold if you tack on an extra 50c but probably not all that much more often. I'll also refer back to 'i guess he's a bit of a station.'
Basically a tiny bit more on the flop and a tiny bit more on the turn leave us in a river spot with say $42 in the pot instead of $36, which is much more amenable to a shove. I do get what you're saying about being consistent, but come on, dude's a 30/15 at 50NL (don't mean to talk down, I've played most of my hands at 50NL, but there aren't too many killer handreaders at this level) I think that sacrificing a little meta for quite a bit of value is acceptable here. It's definitely a consideration against better players though. He's really not gonna pick up on a 50c difference in cbet size. |

Re: 50nl, Set....He\'s not calling a shove.....or is he?
Well, here he was clearly calling a shove. The more you bet the bluffier your line looks and after he called the turn no amount of money can fold him out. Nice table selection
