knee problem
I'm experiencing a new knee issue that appears minor, but I'm not sure.
In the past few weeks, I've been putting more stress on my knees by exercising a bit harder. And in the last few days, I get an occasional sharp pain, but I'm able to continue playing tennis or whatever 95% of the time. I notice that the pain seems prone to occur when I stand up also and take the very first step. But then it disappears. The pain is not so strong to suggest to me anything serious. But it's not going away either, which makes me a little concerned. When I experience this, I feel the knee buckle somewhat. It's also slightly tender in the middle of the kneecap, but just slightly. If it keeps up, naturally I'll be headed to the doctor. But I'm just curious if this vague description sounds vaguely familiar to anyone here. |

Re: knee problem
the knee buckling could be a sign of ligament damage. all i can suggest is to see a specialist sooner rather than later.

Re: knee problem
I had a small knee problem when I first started working out 5 years ago. It had sort of similar symptoms, i.e. slight pain in the kneecap at the start of an exercise (squash) but no buckling.
I went to a doctor and he identified it as a sprain in a "muscle fastener", i.e. one of the ligaments that connects a muscle in the lower leg to the kneebone. The solution was to do 5-10 min. warmup on a stationary bike with very low resistance before each session. After about a month it went away. Just go see a doctor or physical therapist. They really know alot about how your body works and can give you the best advice. |

Re: knee problem
This morning, I played tennis and was totally pain-free.
Hours later, I stand up and feel a relatively sharp pain as I straighten the leg. It's really hard to believe this is anything serious, but I guess I'm headed to the doctor. |
