preflop check-up
I am going to post some preflop decisions I have had to make lately just to make sure my head is on correctly. I have a TAG image. Assume the games are average as far as looseness and aggressiveness both pre and post flop.
Hand 1) Super loose and super aggressive EP open raises. I would say he is opening with about the top 30% of hands here. Post flop he is very aggressive and overplays hands. I am in SB with...KdJd. BB is Avg ability, typical preflop. What is my play? What is the worst hand you would play here? Hand 2) The game is typical. one ep, one MP limp, I am next in HJ with 7c5c. The rest of the players are half somewhat loose and half tight. What is my play? Hand 3) The game is tight. It is folded to somewhat tight passive HJ who limps, I am next with Ah2h..What is my play? Hand 4) LAG raises from button, SB calls(he plays everyhand whether raised or not) Both turn into calling stations post flop. I am in BB with Jc6c, Qd2d....What is my play with each. What if I had 99? Hand 5) Two EP players limp, MP raises(TAG), Button calls, folded to me in BB. I have....Qd6d..Whats my play? I would appreciate your thoughts. |

Re: preflop check-up
1: 3bet for value. I don't really care what BB does. IMO KJo/A8s/KTs/77 is about where the line is.
2: Fold. No showdown value and will almost certainly be a shorthanded pot, in many cases a raised shorthanded pot. 3: Typically raise, possibly fold if open-limper is too tricky and too likely to have a strong hand. Calling is almost always wrong given the game description. 4: Call the suited hands. 99 is close between 3betting and calling and depends a lot on postflop play. 5: Call. Be careful if you flop just a Q. |

Re: preflop check-up
1)i 3bet A8o+, A7s+, KTs+, KJo+, 66+
2)knowing that the players left to act are tight or loose is less important than knowing if they are aggressive or passive(particulary pf for this decision). 3)if he plays very fit or fold usually raise. 4)call suited hands. 99 i go either way. waiting for a decent flop and c/r the button is a strong play. that said, you make money 3betting pf as well but you never win without showdown and if you take the initiatve pf it's tougher to get it HU OOP postflop. 5)i call any two suited here. |
