river bluff c/r
villain is 32/26 in 100 hands, all today. i've never seen him before, and he's playing in a bunch of games and sitting at empty tables to play HU. i assume he's good and i haven't seen him out of line yet. we haven't tangled at all.
Poker Stars, $5/$10 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players LegoPoker Hand History Converter BTN: $755.45 SB: $215 Hero (BB): $1,659.60 UTG: $1,361 MP: $970 CO: $570 Pre-Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BB) UTG raises to $30, 4 folds, Hero calls $20 Flop: ($65) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero checks, UTG bets $50, Hero calls $50 Turn: ($165) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero checks, UTG checks River: ($165) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero checks, UTG bets $110, Hero raises to $400, i thought this would actually be a pretty place to c/r the river if i had missed a turn c/r with a made flush, so it should be believable. |

its funny they will call with like jj but will fold 88 [/ QUOTE ] why is that funny. i like your play but i don't really like the flop call in general, unless you plan on making this move a somewhat decent % of the time (edit: or he's unusually passive postflop), because your bluffing range here consists pretty much only of made hands being turned into bluffs which makes your play in this hand a bit more believable. on the other hand sets probably aren't in your range unless it's 33, so you're repping a pretty slim range of clubs only ... you're basically counting on him talking himself into a fold here, which 32/26's don't generally like to do. not the ideal player to try this against but probably still OK imo. |

Re: river bluff c/r
from a theoretical standpoint he shouldn't be calling or folding 100% of his hands here so dividing them up by absolute hand value is never a bad idea
plus that isnt even that relevant here - we could easily turn 9x hands into a bluff here, which is obv true since we turned 44 into a bluff. im not saying i think 88 and JJ differ *that* often, but often enough to the point where you can't say that calling one and folding the other is laughable. |
