Classic novel representing loyalty/friendship
This may be the wrong forum for this, but I don't really feel like getting banned in OOT, so I figured the most intellectual forum on the site would be the way to go.
I am looking for examples of well known, classic novels whose main theme is loyalty, teamwork, friendship, etc. It is a work-related creative project, and I cannot stand these sorts of things, but I have to do a decent job on it. Off the top of my head I could not think of any great pieces of literature that exactly fit this description, and I was an English major, which is pretty sad. If you guys can come up with any, it would be highly appreciated. Thanks very much. |

Re: Classic novel representing loyalty/friendship
Post this in The Lounge (or just wait for a mod to move it there, I guess).
As for your question, maybe The Three Musketeers? |

Re: Classic novel representing loyalty/friendship
Ivanhoe novels/Walter Scott All Quiet on the Western Front/Erich Maria Remarque, Three comrades/Erich Maria Remarque Count of Monte Cristo/Alexandre Dumas (it's kinda in reverse from what you want, but could still be cool) |

Re: Classic novel representing loyalty/friendship
Do you need all three in each book? Two oddball examples: My Friend Flicka - boy and horse The Heart is a Lonely Hunter - the mute and the fat guy near the start |

Re: Classic novel representing loyalty/friendship
Thanks. I realized this wasn't the ideal forum for it, but I wasn't sure which to use. Sorry for misusing this forum, and thanks very much for all the replies.

Re: Classic novel representing loyalty/friendship
I think you might want to look at Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck or A Separate Peace by Knowles...both of them are sad, but they are pretty close looks at friendship. A Separate Peace is probably the shorter of the two if you need a fast read.

A Separate Peace
Lord of the Rings Of Mice and Men Are all greats, I would add Once and Future King, but it's not as smooth a read? |
