I'm thinking of taking out a home equity line of credit to buy stocks with. Are there any regulations against using my line of credit money to buy stocks?
If I can buy stocks, are there any regulations against me getting a loan on margin with that money? |

Regrettably, there are no laws against this.
You should try to convince other people to do the same thing. That way, when you inevitably lose money, you can blame the home lenders and brokerage houses, and get a government bailout. |

didnt this cause the great depression? People used the above techniques to speculate in the market and when it finally crashed they lost everything and banks defaulted because they would acutally loan these people money.

fwiw, I'm structuring the transaction to limit my losses to a level I can comfortably cover with my current assets... the opportunity presented to me is favorable enough from a risk/reward perspective that I feel compelled to borrow.
That and degen, ftw. Thanks for the replies, it's good to know I won't be going to jail |
