Re: quick poll, if you would be so kind.
[ QUOTE ]
obviously nobody can really filter in poker tracker: "AQo -> 3bet pots -> out of position -> readless" in order to see if it's profitable or not. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, anyone can. One of the many useful features of the unfairly bashed "silly EV program" is exactly this kind of filtering. The only part of this problem is "readless", which is not something pokertracker can define - you can decide for yourself which of the filtered AQo OOP in a 3bet pot hands were "readless" when reviewing them. |

very interesting thread, thanks for your input bobbo. I'd love to hear more opinions on this spot, especially about post-flop. For the AQ callers OOP vs BTN 3B from unknown 22/17: You're never folding when you hit top pair, right? At what kind of flops you miss do you contest the pot, how and why? |

Re: quick poll, if you would be so kind.
i fourbet most of the time, sometimes shove if i know the person is sick and might shove 77 type hands that they would fold to shove, sometimes call if they are the type to check behind and give up.

I call but I'm not awfully fond of it, just not a great spot to be in.

Re: quick poll, if you would be so kind.
To all the AQ-folders: yeah RIO, -EV in vacuum, hard to play, oop etc. etc. This is not the point. Take another, more abstract point of view from which you can see meta-game, ranges, and how ranges exploit other ranges.
Opening-range on CO is prob between 25 and 30% of all your hands. If you consistently fold all but the very strong hands, you give up too much. And imagine what would happen if button knew you play this way (he probably doesn't know; but this thought-experiment shows how sound strategies are in an vacuum): he would raise even more and you would be forced to tighten up from CO. This means you'll have to fold a lot of suited connectors. This means your total profits from the CO will go down significantly. Total profits from CO [wide range and calling 3bet AQ] >> total profits CO [tighter range and folding AQ]. And if you think: well I'll play a wide range and fold AQ and have the best of both worlds! you should RLY avoid sitting with a good player directly to your left. |
