Calling the U.S. from Europe
Tomorrow I head off to Europe for a week and haven't figured out how I'll call the U.S.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for a calling card, or some some other method? I will not have my computer, so services like Skype are out. I will have a telephone in my room that does not allow overseas calls (unless going through an operator, etc, which would probably be very expensive). I've searched online and there are a million calling cards available, but some of them seem shady. Any help appreciated. In return, I'll post a TR sometime next week. |

Re: Calling the U.S. from Europe
Calling cards are the way to go, you can dodge shadiness by buying from the country's landline telco. Those are often available at places like news stands, post offices (often the same monopoly as the landline). Which country?

They're all over the place, and you shouldn't have trouble finding one (assuming you're in a big city). |

Re: Calling the U.S. from Europe
Someone recommended zaptel international calling cards to me.
And if you can unlock your cellphone, you can get a prepaid European sim card for local calling/texting. |

Re: Calling the U.S. from Europe
I'm sure you should be able to get a calling-card fairly easily once you get over there.
We were able to buy calling-cards in Peru to call back to the U.S. so they shouldn't be hard to track down in Europe. |

Re: Calling the U.S. from Europe
Ive used cloncom.com several times to buy calling cards, never had any problems. http://www.cloncom.com/rates.jsp?directi...ubmit_rate.y=11
Just buy one online and you will get the code you need to access it via e-mail. |

Re: Calling the U.S. from Europe
yeah, I've used cloncom before also. They keep e-mail harassing me during one special promotion or another.
They are legit but I also recommend not using your main e-mail address when you sign-up or need to validate with them or whatever because they do tend to keep up with you. |
