[/ QUOTE ] Hey Shane, I havnt been to the TAJ for any of the pre-lims,but I know they ran a ton of SAT's today, and she couldnt give me a specific # of entrants. A guess of at LEAST 125+ IMO if they got word out down there about the TV coverage ASAP...which would be a two table pay out which aint so bad Kinda' silly The Donald waits till the 11th hour to make a deal that was paramount to the already dismal turnouts in the past as it was! Re: USPC Taj Main Event - Is Anyone Playing?
i called taj on multiple occassions within the past couple days and got the same exact response from 2 different staff members. they said that a film crew from california will be filming the event, but they will only be filming the final table. they have no tv contract but they expect a small network on nationally covered extended cable to pick up the tournament.
i decided that this was not enough tv promise to make traveling to the east coast worth it for me so i wont be playing. i also assume that because no tv deal has been finalized that getting poker site sponsoring at tv tables would be especially difficult, which was a further deterrent. i would be extremely pissed off if they ended up filming day 1-5 like they did last year and a non-espn network dedicated 12 hours of tv for this event. im assuming that the taj wouldnt give me misinformation like that, but then again i know better. |

[/ QUOTE ] You got more TV time the last few years at the USPC,due to the fact they filmed the ENTIRE event from start to finish compared to any WPT event(which final tables 6 players only)or WSOP Events as well as any WSOP Circuit events that were televised? With the basically small USPC fields ,any final tablist got more airtime over 12 episodes ,than any WSOP M/E champion did in recent years So whats the diff. if ESPN,GSN,or as I was told maybe CBS airs the entire event? As far as sponsership, that was dead at the USPC last year after the UGIEA was passed just prior anyways |
