Re: major beat: no more liquor or cigarettes
Lawmakers have spent the last three weekends huddled in the Capitol in attempt to resolve the budget crisis today.
Eighteen legislators paused at 9:30 a.m. today for a makeshift church service in the House Appropriations Room, led by Rep. Robert Dean, D-Grand Rapids, a pastor of the New Life Church of God in Christ and Rep. Tom Pearce, R-Rockford, founder of a faith-based drug and alcohol treatment center. "We're here to pray for God's intervention, we're not here to pray politics," Pearce said. "May the logjams that are there be loosened. May Your wisdom prevail, Lord. I pray that in this room there is a nucleus of something amazing for Michigan." |
