Re: 1/2 Putting myself in sticky situations
I don't mind the delayed cbet. I feel that donkish villains see that as a monster.
I like the thin value bet on the river but I fold to the raise. A straight is much more likely than a bluff. |

so your plan is bet small, call a raise? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I think that idea has merit here. You've mentioned he's tried to pick up a pot before. BTW, I think a little over a 1/2 pot bet on the river is a pretty big bet. |

Re: 1/2 Putting myself in sticky situations
Perfect flop (Q high) for a continuation bet. It's worth trying to take the pot down here at the expense of losing a gut-shut draw if raised.
I'd bet a little less on the river for a value-bet. It's a very easy fold to the raise. You are behind here 90% of the time. |

Re: 1/2 Putting myself in sticky situations
I'd need a lot of hands saying the guy is tricky/retarded before I think a river c/r is an air bluff, and even more to believe tpnk. I'd c/c river for a small bet, or b/f (I assume) like you did here. I think the sizing of the river bet is fine.

Re: 1/2 Putting myself in sticky situations
[ QUOTE ]
I don't mind a river bet here, I just don't like the size of it without a good read that villian is a calling donk. If you're comfortable getting a potsize bet in on the river, I like a much smaller bet on the river. You induce more calls from a worse pair or King. You also can induce a raise from a missed spade draw or whatever...and you keep it all relatively cheap at the end. I think something like a $10-$15 river bet would do this. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. I think a smaller river bet would have been better. I'm looking to control the pot at this point and maybe just get a small value bet in after I hit. I'm definitely folding to river c/r here. |
