thats a very interesting question. Maybe we should start a seperate thread on that. My guess is that the more LAG your style is and the more you play big pot poker, the bigger your variance is going to be. I also think that the higher you play and the more aggressive your games are the higher your variance is going to be. But you probably knew these things.

If I had to guess I would say that the better players would have slightly higher variance.

Note: Std Dev isnt just a measure of your variance, its more a measure of how well your winrate reflects what is statitically likely to be your true winrate. (Im not a stat guy, if one of you is a stat guy feel free to jump in here and phrase this better).


Last thing: If possible I would like peoples numbers for greater than a one month period, as you have played as many hands in this month (holy [censored] thats a lot of hands) as many people play in a year, this doesnt really apply to you.
