playing Ax off-suit OOP
How do you guys play hands like A3 off-suit OOP?
Assuming villain limps, do you bet or check? I am not sure if im missing value by checking. |

Re: playing Ax off-suit OOP
Depends on what range you think he limps with . If he's limping with speculative hands that either hit or miss then you should raise it up .
In theory , you should raise if you think you will win the pot more than 50% of the time which includes showdown and non showdown wins . Since if this is the case then you would regret not raising it earlier . Against an habitual limper , you should certainly be able to win the pot 50% of the time even oop . |

Re: playing Ax off-suit OOP
Probably giving away lots of value..but I really dont feel comfortable playing small Aces OOP (or play OOP in general), so I'd check.

Re: playing Ax off-suit OOP
Cash? tourney? NL? Limit? The answer probably varies a lot. In what I play (NL cash), I usually just check it back unless villain folds to a raise pretty often.

Re: playing Ax off-suit OOP
Jakeduke , put yourself in your opponent's position . If he has a speculative hand , then don't you think he would prefer that you check it behind , instead of raising ?
So , you should consider doing whatever your opponent's would discourage you from doing . I think you lose some value in checking with a-x oop against a limper . |

Re: playing Ax off-suit OOP
maybe, but it also keeps me from inflating the pot OOP against someone who's probably calling. Like I said, if villain is limp/folding a lot, sure i'll raise it up with a bunch of hands. but if villain is limp/calling a lot, they're probably doing it with hands better than a4o. And hands like A9+ are all isntaraises, so it's not like I'm checking that many axo hands behind. I'm plenty happy playing small pots with crap hands like a3o OOP.
