Is there any significance to the guy in the painting wearing the #3 on his shirt? I am not sure why he'd have a number on his watermelon shirt. It's not like it's a football jersey or something. [/ QUOTE ] I think he's a Dale Earnhardt fan. |

Re: BEAT: My town is racist
I'm really tired and that pic seems scary now...Standard? Or hidden racism that I've never known about?

ROFLMAO, that picture is just wow lol Look at the girl in blackface crouched behind the fence. Wow that is hilariously lol [/ QUOTE ] What got cut off (I had to reach pretty high up to get the image) was another child in black face peering out of a garbage can. Karak- it's pretty latent here most of the time. There were race riots in the sixties, and some people were killed. About four years ago, our mayor at the time was indicted for a murder that happened during the riots. It was a national story. Maybe the Amish are why things are nicer in Lancaster. |

Re: BEAT: My town is racist
this dude i know was in florida (i'm from canada) and he was at a gas station, and he finished pumping the gas, and was paying the attendant, when he said, "Argh, it's so annoying here, all the money is the same colour. In Canada, it's all different colours so it's easy to tell the difference between 20's and tens etc".
The attendant looked him in the eyes and said, "we have enough colors down here" |

Re: BEAT: My town is racist
Not as bad as last time I was in Jacksonville, I saw a redneck pickup truck with the usual confederate flag, nude women mudflaps and wait for this...a stick rigged up in the flatbed of the truck with a noose hanging down.

Re: BEAT: My town is racist
Is there some racist message with regards to the watermelon, that I'm missing?
Sorry, not American. But to me it just looks like a painting of some black people. |
