Re: Govt bans metal bats
[ QUOTE ]
linky Do they know no bounds? The government has decided to step in and tell the high school baseball teams what kind of bats they can use. In all seriously, who could possibly believe that this is the proper role of government? natedogg [/ QUOTE ] You mean the city council dictating city high school policy? Give me a break. This is exactly the role of local government. |

Re: Govt bans metal bats

[ QUOTE ] I don't understand the hullabo. The city council passed the ban. A local government made the decision. The federal government upheld the rulling. If people there aren't happy with it, they have themselves to blame for electing their local reps. [/ QUOTE ] This is false. A vote is not a contract. There is no arrangement made whatsoever. [/ QUOTE ] Oh, do we now have a "right" to play baseball for the public school using the bat of our choice? |

[ QUOTE ] In all seriously, who could possibly believe that this is the proper role of government? [/ QUOTE ] Karl Marx, Stalin, Hitler, FDR, Lincoln, Rockefeller, the list goes on!! [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, your comparison of a local govt dictating local policy at a local public school to mass murdering dictator of a continental empire is spot on. |

Re: Govt bans metal bats
You're right, when Hitler took away metal bats, that was the last straw. Stalin wanted to make bunting mandatory with men on first and second and one out.

Wasn't Operation Barbarossa meant to end the use of astroturf in outdoor stadiums?

Re: Govt bans metal bats
Two points:
1) the OP never used the word "federal". 2) the linked article doesn't say anything that implies the ban is limited to public schools. |

I think we can safely assume that the ordinance covers every single aluminum bat in NYC and that that all of the now-banned bats are being dumped into the East River as we speak. |
