Re: Live play = free monies
[ QUOTE ]
How many missed value bets in this hand? Winner gets the players names! [/ QUOTE ] I'm not even on Stars, but I'm game. [ QUOTE ] Preflop: Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 1 fold, MP raises, 1 fold, Button 3-bets, SB calls, 1 fold, MP calls. Flop: (10 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, MP checks, Button bets, SB calls, MP calls. [/ QUOTE ] You could technically count four based on MP's missed flop bet and the combined failure of both to get it capped, but given the gargantuan strength of MP here (obviously not knowing what Button has) I don't mind that he passed on donking and checked to the PFR. Whiffing the check/raise is a colossal error with two opponents, though. Once he does that Button should three-bet and then it's a judgment call on whether or not MP should cap it or smooth-call to check/raise the turn. So let's call it 2.5. [ QUOTE ] Turn: (6.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, MP bets, Button calls, SB folds. [/ QUOTE ] Button just out-dumbed MP. When it's three-way and you've got a live one who's announced that that card helped him, screw getting one lousy overcall from a drawing hand. If SB has a gutshot he's incorrect to call one bet, so you might as well raise; if he has hearts or an OESD he's not going anywhere, so you might as well raise. This turn gets capped always with both players boating up, so this is obviously three missed bets. [ QUOTE ] River: (8.50 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) MP checks, Button bets, MP calls. [/ QUOTE ] Never mind, MP just beclowned himself again or he's got the reading skills of Nostra-freakin'-damus. He should have bet after betting the turn, so that's one. He should have check/raised and then Button three-bets, so that's two more. I wouldn't be able to fault him if he just called there since three-betting a river check/raise shows immense strength and it's reasonable to assume a halfway competent opponent wouldn't do that with merely an overpair or trips. So that's three more for a grand total of: [ QUOTE ] Final Missed Value: 7.25 BB [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Live play = free monies
so im worried about bodog's financial stability and am trying to finish this stupid bonus ASAP so I hop into a LHE game for only the 3rd or 4th time in 8+ month, rusty++
anyway, im playing 2/4 FR because i dont have the stones to jump into the 4/8 6max game and so far im down $70ish or a massive 18BB!! (lol normal varianceaments) I've won maybe 1 hand the entire time ive sat at that table (just shy of 2 hours). the table seems to call down quite a lot with 2nd pair and whatnot. CO in this hand 3betted a very tight TAGish player in position with 44 once before and flopped quads. Onto the hand: im utg with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and raise LDO, mp1 coldcalls, mp2 calls, mp3 calls (olol i thought the game was tighter than this), CO raises, i call, rest call. flop KJ4r with 1 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], i c/r because im fish, mp1 coldcalls again, CO 3bets, i cap, they call. turn is 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], i bet, mp calls, CO raises, i 3bet cos he cant possibly have KK or JJ or QT, mp calls, CO caps (oh [censored] im drawing to 0-4 outs), we call. river 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] checked to CO, he bets, i lag and almost break my table in frustration but calls just in time, mp overcalls. Results: CO: AA MP1: KTo Pot: $114, Rake: $3 [x] Hero sucks at lhe [x] villain had the only possible hand that Hero could beat [x] coldcalls lol [ ] Hero won the max p.s. hai ozi and micro lhe! |

Re: Live play = free monies
Over in the small stakes forum, some guys are advising moving up live as soon as possible. Is this conventional wisdom? I've been grinding at 2/4 trying to work my way up to $1800 to play 3/6. Should I just jump?
Thought I'd post here because I know and love you guys better. |

Re: Live play = free monies
In general, I think your edge live is going to be bigger than online, esp. as you move up in limits. Live 4/8 isn't noticeably tougher than live 2/4, but the rake hurts at 2/4 much more. Consequently, it might work out that your BB/100 at 4/8 is higher than at 2/4, and the higher your BB/100, the smaller the roll you need, assuming the variance at each level is comparable. Also, if moving up means a bigger BB/100 AND a doubling of the $/BB, the incentive for taking a shot is much higher.

Re: Live play = free monies
cr,
where do you play live? CA-style drop is particularly bad for 2/4. as long as you're willing to move down in a hurry when things don't go well, i think you can get by with a lot less than 300BB when playing live. everything moves so much slower that you'd have to be really retarded/a nuclear tilt monkey to not notice that you were going to busto. btw, people say that 2/4 and 4/8 aren't that much different (like wook just did). i have substantial experience with these games and i disagree. 4/8 is, generally speaking, not as loose or as passive as 2/4. the extra aggression is actually kinda nice, though, as it isn't very difficult to manage and it often means bigger pots for you since someone else is willing to raise when you have a good hand. anyway, the moral is: quite being such a pussy and take a shot. |
