We're talking about the use of a word in the English language. When some English speakers say "football," they mean soccer. When other English speakers say "football," they mean a different sport. I think its very relevant seeing as the English/British introduced this game to the rest of the world and it was introduced using the word 'football' not 'soccer.' Also when a native French/Spanish/Italian/German/Portugese speaker converses in English what do you think the vast majority of them think 'football' means?
