Default $10+1: AJo against UTG+1 raisor (poker 101)

Blinds t100/t200 with t25 antes. 21 remain, 9 get paid. I am 11th I think. 7-handed table.

Hero is UTG+2 with t6255 and A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Villain is UTG+1 with t3931.

There are 2 t12k stacks behind me but the rest have something in my neighbourhood. No real reads as I'm playing 5 cash tables in parallel, but I haven't noticed UTG+2 being out of line.

Pot t475 preflop.

UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to t700, Hero raises to t2575, many folds, UTG+1 calls.

Flop 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t5625)

UTG+1 shoves for t1331, Hero calls.

Other considerations - I don't mind variance at all; I don't mind small high variance EV+ spots as if I bust I can open another cash table. The question is whether this was EV+.

And a later hand. Same situation, same villain. Hero had t2324 before the hand and A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

UTG limps for t200 (pot t675), Hero shoves for t2299...?

i don't see any sense in reraising and not pushing. after your reraise you have M=7 so you are anyway committed to the pot.

a push with AJ after an early raiser is rarely a good idea, cause you are most of the time an underdog - to a PP or worse dominated.

if villain played somewhat loose, opening with a wide range i might push this, otherwise fold it preflop.

as played here the postflop call is a nobrainer.

Yes, postflop is a nobrainer. I though raising not pushing seems more strong and makes no difference as we're all pot committed anyway.

Is calling an option preflop first hand? Floating most flops?

Fold pre-flop, AJ is marginal to open with in EP, let alone when playing a raised pot.

How low should my stack/M get to reraise AJo?

no i don't think so - preflop you have M=12, with a call you are M=11 so not very much room for playing good poker.

with a call you invite the big stacks behind you to call with some drawing hands and you will have to fold to any UTG bet as the big stacks sit behind you - unless you don't hit the flop.

another problem is the A J as there are really very less flops you like to see. you're only happy with a straight or a J with only undercards - both not very likely.

OK, thanks; I figured what I did was bad after the hand.

I was too impatient.

After I got supershortstacked the push with Axo is OK?
