nah not running bad (though not setting world on fire either). just reviewing PT to see why my vpip is low compared to most people here (i'm 17%), not that i'm really aiming for a %, just want to see if i'm being too tight.

I don't think 17/14 is too tight derosnec. I also see some of my favourite CR pros (Fruitypro FTW!) running like this at 50NL.

I usually run much the same as you, but have been trying to open up to a, say, 20/16 recently, and it's actually not that hard to find the extra few hands. And once you learn how to not overplay those extra few hands you are involved in, it's fine.

That said, I find what drags down my numbers are the inevitable sessions where you just don't get the cards and end running 13/10 or whatever. That drags the overall average down, even if you run 21/17 next session. This is why I find it hard to stick at the higher number.

I tend to call because of position. But I'm also ready to fold to a c-bet on a bunch of flops giving me no further oppurtunities.

17 is fine, anything over 20 at micros is usually too much calling, too loose OOP or too spewy.

hmm I believe You can outplay him with position.

If we're calling to outplay him with position wouldn't we be better off with some weird, well disguised hand? T8s or something?

I guess for me I tell myself that I play better so I can call with A7s but I play like an idiot and payoff bigger aces whenever we both hit. Just because that's a leak of mine doesn't mean it is for you but I agree with folding.

The worse the villain plays postflop the more apt I am to call. Against standard tag fare I'm calling this maybe 1 out of 6 times or so, I'd rather have 87s tbh (I'd call with that pretty much every time.) Still, lots of good things can happen, just have to be careful if you hit an A since so much of his MP range is big aces.
